https://youtu.be/x8b1StzkuwgSofia Antelo has been a Pilates Instructor since 2005. She received her Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrel, and Mat certifications through Half Moon Pilates in New York City, and also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Acting with a minor in Dance from the College of Santa Fe. It was during her time studying dance that Sofia discovered and learned the benefits of her own Pilates practice.
Sofia and her family moved to Bethesda after living in Brooklyn, NY for 16 years. In New York, she taught a wide variety of clients from teenagers to 90-year-olds. Through her experience, she has trained clients during many aspects of life, from getting in shape for the wedding, pre and post-natal, and helping people recover from hip and knee replacements. Pilates has many purposes from therapeutic to aesthetic and helping clients attain and maintain balance in their bodies is a passion that Sofia loves to share with others.
What Sofia’s clients have to say:
“I’m writing to express my appreciation for the many benefits I’ve received from membership at Rock Creek Sports Club and to highlight the extraordinary coaching from Sofia (Pilates) and Issac (strength). I have definitely received all of the “hoped for” benefits one would expect from consistent training – more energy, mobility & functional strength – all of which just make life better! What has been unexpected and extraordinary is the impact I’ve experienced with my balance. I have an unusual condition of having had my left balance nerve cut during surgery a couple decades ago. Sofia and Issac were both much more confident I could improve my performance (balance) on certain exercises than I was. They patiently encouraged me and I still marvel that I can now do exercises seamlessly that, in the beginning, were a “no go”. My membership has been a wonderful and expansive experience. And the Club’s friendly environment and variety of exercise options just adds to that. Can’t thank you enough!”
