Sofia Antelo

    https://youtu.be/x8b1StzkuwgSofia Antelo has been a Pilates Instructor since 2005.  She received her Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrel, and Mat certifications through Half Moon Pilates in New York City, and also holds a  Bachelor of Arts degree in Acting with a minor in Dance from the College of Santa Fe. It was during her time studying dance that Sofia discovered and learned the benefits of her own Pilates practice.

    Sofia and her family moved to Bethesda after living in Brooklyn, NY for 16 years. In New York, she taught a wide variety of clients from teenagers to 90-year-olds. Through her experience, she has trained clients during many aspects of life, from getting in shape for the wedding, pre and post-natal, and helping people recover from hip and knee replacements. Pilates has many purposes from therapeutic to aesthetic and helping clients attain and maintain balance in their bodies is a passion that Sofia loves to share with others.

I really enjoy the friendly administrative staff and trainers, the clean environment and the variety of equipment available to users. I go to the Club at least 4 times a week to have two sessions with Amy Pollak for functional strength training and two sessions with Sophia Antelo for Pilates.
    My husband and I have taken Pilates with Sophia Antelo since October of 2023. In Sophia, I feel like we are working with a Pilates expert.  Sophia is very pleasant and is a stickler for proper form.  My core strength use to be my weakest area, and now it feels so much stronger. I don’t have back aches nearly as frequently as I once did, and I am much more aware of the importance of good posture. If I trip over a tree root on a hike, I quickly regain my balance.
