Member Of The Quarter: Jaylene Sarracino
Rock Creek Sports Club is proud to announce Jaylene Sarracino as the 4th Quarter Member of the Quarter. The management team selected Jaylene because her fitness goals have required hard work yet she has approached the task with a constant smile and good humor.
Jaylene was athletic and active for many years. During her school years she participated in gymnastics, drill team and swim team. In her early 20’s she was a runner, competing in races that ranged from 5ks to half marathons. Once in law school Jaylene was no longer able to compete but she did stay active. Then having two kids put all athletic activity on hold.
While life as a mother of two is far from sedentary, it is difficult to find time to exercise. A serious car accident two years ago required months of physical therapy and Jaylene was scared to think she could have those injuries forever. She became serious about getting back in shape and moved from PT to water aerobic classes to boot camp classes. Then one day she came across an old sales card from Rock Creek Sports Club and fell in love with the club after a trial period. She is now more consistent with her workouts and feels like she gets good value for her monthly membership fee. The amenities provided by the club and its convenient location to her children’s school and the TPSS Co-op add to the community feel of her experience. She has encouraged others to try the gym by sharing her yearly guest passes and having them sign up for the small group training.
Jaylene did her initial training sessions with RCSC personal trainer Steve Basdavanos. He helped her tap into her athletic roots by challenging her flexibility and balance acquired long ago in gymnastics. Jaylene now does occasional one-on-one training with Steve, participates in the small group training classes of Shrink It! and Circuit Breaker, and attends Mercedes’ Yoga classes. She makes sure she comes to the gym 5 days a week and is on a quest to try every piece of equipment RCSC has to offer!
Jaylene feels great and has lost 32 pounds in a year and half. She promises to never see those pounds again and particularly likes one of the benefits of losing weight – more hugs! She also wants to inspire others to get and stay in shape – recently when a friend try to back out of a workout Jaylene insisted the friend come in for just 20 minutes. With that mindset Jaylene will certainly never see those extra pounds again and demonstrates that she truly deserves to be honored as RCSC’s member of the quarter.
