What is Yoga?

The origin of yoga dates back to more than 5,000 years ago and was developed to improve individual heath. Incorporating exercise, breathing, and meditation, yoga is both physical and mental. Combining these three techniques promotes controlled breathing and overall continuity of the body, ultimately leading to a stress free lifestyle.

How we do Yoga

Rock Creek Sports offers three types of Yoga classes; Light cardio and flexibility Yoga, Hatha Yoga, and Open Flow Yoga. The light yoga class is appropriate for all levels of fitness and focuses on properly connecting poses, improving breathing, and flow, with an emphasis on strength and safety. Another type is referred to as Hatha Yoga which focuses on physical and mental strength-building exercises with a central emphasis on physical postures, breath, and mind. We also offer an Open Flow Yoga class that involves showing you the benefits of this exercise by demonstrating how to flow from one pose into the next using mindful breathing and proper alignment techniques.
